SSD runs a community Foodbank Service once a week for those who are most in need.
SSD will help anybody who needs support; the old, single people, young people & families from all backgrounds, religious beliefs and ethnic origins, without prejudice. SSD aims to treat everyone fairly, with dignity and respect.
We at SSD Loughborough, aim to fight hunger by providing nutritious food to individuals and families in need, reducing food insecurity, preventing waste, and offering hope, dignity, and support so everyone in the community can thrive.
Every day, countless individuals and families in our community face the harsh reality of food insecurity. For many, putting a nutritious meal on the table means sacrificing other essentials like rent, medication, or utilities. Our food bank is a vital lifeline, providing meals and groceries to those struggling to make ends meet. But as demand grows, our resources are stretched thin, and we need your help to continue serving our neighbours with dignity and compassion.
Beyond filling plates, your contribution helps restore peace of mind and hope for those facing difficult times. A parent no longer has to worry about whether their child will have dinner, and an elderly neighbour can enjoy a healthy meal without choosing between food and medication. The foodbank has seen a marked increase in the number of people seeking support in recent months. Almost half of those accessing the service are asylum seekers and refugees who have fled war-torn countries, arriving with limited resources and in urgent need of assistance. This growing demand highlights both the scale of the humanitarian challenges faced by vulnerable communities and the essential role the foodbank plays in providing immediate relief.

We need your help
We are looking for people who can set up collection points in Schools, getting students, parents and children involved in collecting food, toiletries and sponsorship. At work, have a collecting box, offer to bring the donations in or if you are looking to get involved contact us.
